The home of Erakor Villagers until 1959, the island is steeped in history with the open air chapel (known to be the first church built in the Pacific Islands), grave headstones from 1843, Chief’s memorials and original buildings of yesteryear including the old dispensary, missionary’s house and foundations of the original school. Erakor island is located just 5 minutes from the mainland and 5 minutes by bus or taxi to the main town area. Our ferry operates 24hrs a day on request.
Day visitors are welcomed on our beautiful island. You will be asked to purchase a ferry voucher on arrival to the jetty which is fully redeemable on the island for food, drink or put it towards some lovely pampering in our Essence Day Spa. Adults 1,000vt and children 500vt.
You will need 6 months validity on your passport to leave Australia so check to make sure you won’t have issues at the airport.
Different Doctors will recommend different requirements for your visit to Vanuatu so it’s best to check with a Travel Clinic Specialist in your state who will be able to give you the most up to date information.
We recommend that you arrange travel insurance when considering overseas travel just to cover you for any unforeseen delays/cancellation of flights, acccommodation, lost luggage or illness.
Your phone can be activated for global roaming by your provider before you leave Australia. PLEASE NOTE: The costs of these calls are very expensive! You can purchase a local pre paid SIM card on arrival to make calls while you are here. There are two providers in Port Vila: Digicel and TVL.
There is a Duty Free Shop on arrival to Port Vila but the range on offer is limited so if you are planning on making purchases it’s best to buy before you travel. There are also several Duty Free shops in Port Vila.
Power outlets on Erakor are the same style as used in Australia.
All our lovely Villas have tea and coffee making facilities, towels, toiletries and a hair dryer.
Beach towels are available free of charge from our water sports hut on the island.
The Resort does have snorkelling gear available but if you have your own we suggest that you bring those with you in case we don’t have the correct size to suit. If you have reef shoes bring those along as well.
Tropical Island Buffet breakfast is served in Aqua Restaurant daily, it consists of tea, coffee, fruit juice, fruit, toast, muffins with an egg station and various hot sides. Breakfast is available from 7am until 10am.
Duty Free Alcohol
Duty free alcohol cannot be consumed in any of the public areas including the main beach areas or in the Restaurant due to licensing restrictions.
Bookings for tours can be made after you arrive at our Tour Hut. Our lovely Guest Relations Team will be able to answer all your questions and make the bookings for you.
Special Dietary Requirements
Please advise of any special dietary requirements you may have during your stay – our Chefs will do their best to meet any of your requirements.
There is a safe available in some of our Villas but if you have something special that you would like secured just ask our managers to place your valuables in the safe in the Managers Office.
Baby Sitting/Kids Club
Babysitting is available on request. We have lovely experienced baby sitters available – the fee is paid directly to your baby sitter and the rate is 350vt (approx $4 per hour) with a minimum booking time of 3hrs. Our Kids Club provides various age appropriate daily activities, basket weaving, island adventure walking, learning the local language and hermit crab racing just to name a few.
Getting Around Port Vila
Getting around Port Vila is very easy, you just get a bus or taxi. The buses have a “B” on the number plate and you can just flag them down. It’s first on first off so you may take the scenic route to get where you are going. A Taxi is identified bt the “T” on the number plate and you can flag them down as well but the driver will take you to your requested destination immediately.
